About me

About me

I’m Claire Ward, and I am standing to be your East Midlands Mayor.  I’m standing because the East Midlands is my home too. I’ve raised my family here, built a business, and been deeply involved in local life. From advocating for better healthcare to serving as a school governor, I’ve dedicated myself to making a difference and doing what matters.

For the past year and a half, I’ve been on a journey through the heart of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, visiting villages, towns, and communities.

It’s been eye-opening. Everywhere I’ve been, I’ve seen the same struggles: families stretched thin, worries about the future, infrastructure falling apart, and taxes on the rise. But amidst these challenges, I’ve also seen resilience, hope, and a shared desire for change.

As your Mayor, I’ll bring fresh leadership and a commitment to listening to your concerns. I know we can’t keep relying on the same old promises that never materialise. It’s time for real change.

With the creation of a new Mayor for the East Midlands, we have a chance to take control of our future. I’ll use every bit of experience I’ve gained over three decades in politics, business, and healthcare to make our region thrive.

Together, we can invest in our communities, create better jobs, improve transportation, provide affordable housing, and tackle climate change. But most importantly, we can build a future where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

I’m asking for your support to make our region the best place to live, to work, and to learn.

Join me, and let’s make it happen.
