The Opportunity

The Opportunity

For too long the decisions impacting our lives have been made my strangers in Westminster.

The East Midlands is on the brink of an exciting transformation with the establishment of the Mayoral Combined Authority, a pivotal step forward in the devolution deal aimed at creating a more connected, competitive, and prosperous region.

This ground breaking initiative promises to reshape the economic landscape through a £1.14 billion investment focusing on critical areas such as jobs, transport, environmental sustainability, and housing.

The Mayoral Combined Authority will significantly impact the 2.1 million people and our communities across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Derby, and Nottingham.

Investment
in Jobs

Creation of new opportunities and the development of key skills to drive economic growth.

Enhanced
Transport Links

Development of a cohesive infrastructure and the improvement of public transport systems to better connect the region.

Environmental Sustainability

Commitment to achieving net zero by 2050, promoting a greener and more sustainable environment.

Improved
Housing

Focus on creating affordable, high-quality housing and retrofitting existing homes to enhance energy efficiency.

The role of the East Midlands Mayor will be central to driving these initiatives forward, ensuring that our region can realise its full potential as the best place to live, to work, and to learn.

Importantly, it will allow us to make our own decisions locally, breaking free from London focussed ideas which have held our region back for too long. The vision for our region must be interconnected to ensure that we deliver for our communities. For more detailed information, you can visit the official East Midlands Devolution website.
