One of the best things about campaigning to be East Midlands Mayor is meeting passionate local people. Thank you to the team at Rural Action Derbyshire for having me. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for Derbyshire residents, by empowering people in rural communities to take action to address disadvantage, become more sustainable and increase local control.
Rural communities shouldn’t be disadvantaged just because of where they live or work.
I also really enjoyed catching up with some of Derbyshire’s Labour county councillors. As East Midlands mayor, I will work to revitalise our villages and towns, bring better public transport services to rural communities, and safeguard our green spaces.
